Urban dio kit done/ 2nd one close

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

I finished up painting the completed urban dio kit, but had to wait for a bit of northwest sunshine ( very rare) to get pics for the website. I think this kit, and the ones to come, will fill a space between the modeler that can take the time and have the skill to produce great AFV’s and figures but dont have the time or interest in producing a setting from scratch. The next kit will be the same style of structure but with a back entry and a larger street area for larger AFV’s.
Also cast and ready for the interior to be produced are 2 styles of row houses which I will be completing over the T day weekend.

New kits coming soon

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Here is a sneak peak of urban diorama kits we are developing. We are going to casting in resin and will be including features that make it easier to finish off the kits on all sides ; flooring, joists, trim etc. The actual mortar and brick is a bit different as the original is not carved but actually cast from built up pieces so the cut stone and bricks making up the walls are not on a single plane.

The rubble included in the kit will be the actual size, shape of what the building was ‘constructed’ with, to add to realism.

new sidewalk is on the site

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

the new sidewalk is on the site. At this time we will be sending it out with general use instructions. we will try to update tips and techniques for use  on the blog so we can include pics. From using it on a dio that im building the biggest tip for use to date, measure twice and cut once. I cut the curbing short on my first install and left a gap..its small so it wont be an issue hiding it.

The sidewalks actually have batting in the middle so they maintain the thickness. When bending the piece you may see some flex, but when laid flat and in place its a non issue. Sewing shears are working good for cutting this section.  The best place to get these is from your wife’s sewing basket when she is not looking.. I said the best place,,, not necessarily the safest place… especially when she finds out :0
